Operations, maintenance and asset management with industrial AI
In this course, participants will gain insights and knowledge in and around system lifecycle management, asset management, maintenance, maintenance strategies, system understanding and system identification as well as basic knowledge of industrial AI for maintenance analysis and asset management.
This knowledge development is expected to help strengthen the competitiveness of both small and medium-sized enterprises and the industry in Norrbotten and Sweden.
Key facts
Target group: All managers and people in leadership roles at small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the steel and metal industry value chain.
Prerequisites: Completed compulsory school with passing grades or other experience deemed sufficient by the employer. Experience and ability to participate in digital meetings via Teams.
Scope/Duration: The course is divided into a total of 6 digital sessions with self-study in between, totaling approximately 50 hours.
Price: This training is provided in collaboration with the RUFFS project and is free of charge for participating companies.
Location: All sessions are conducted digitally via Teams.
Course start: Tentatively February 2026
Language: Swedish (can be offered in English)
Number of places: By agreement – we strive to gather participants from different companies to create opportunities for networking and exchange of experience.
Structure
- 6 lectures (2 hours each)
- Self-study between lectures (estimated at about 40 hours)
- 1 written assignment (included in the 40 hours above)
To pass the course, participation in the sessions is required; after completing the course, you will receive a certificate.
Instructor
Ramin Karim is a professor and subject representative in operations and maintenance engineering at Luleå University of Technology. He leads the research area at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering and is the director of the ‘Centre of Intelligent Asset Management’ at LTU, as well as being responsible for the eMaintenance LAB – the world’s first international laboratory for e-maintenance – and LTU’s new Battery LAB for research in asset management of batteries.
